Private Music Lessons

Walk into Peace of the City any time during our weekly programs and you will hear a number of instruments squeaking, tuning and tatting, in some kind of beautiful cacophony! We offer private lessons in six different musical instruments. Open to youth age 10 and up, our lesson slots are highly coveted and demand students willing to live up to our expectations for practice, determination and self-motivation. Our teachers teach excellent mastery of their instruments and also guide our youth towards maturity and confidence.

Gretchen Nichols
Suzuki violin teacher with plus 30 years of teaching experience. 4 years teaching at Peace of the City.

Ray Bennett
Working with a group of 8 youth last year, Ray organized Peace Percussion and even printed T-shirts for the kids to wear.

Philip Welty
After volunteering with Teen Club for several year, Philip offered to teach our first brass instrument:  trombone.

Sue McClain
Sue’s excitement and expertise have kids banging on her door for lessons. Thursday lessons are jammed with piano students from 3:15-5:45pm!
