Volunteering for Peace of the City
Motivated, dependable adult volunteers are an essential part of the Peace of the City team. From our beginnings in 1992, friends of this ministry have come alongside our paid staff, investing countless hours of affection, patience, warmth and driving time (!) to play an invaluable role in the lives of urban children and teens.

One of our volunteers hard at work!
Volunteers normally commit to one afternoon of service a week, with service opportunities ranging from tutoring at Homework Club to teaching a musical instrument to set design for our Shakespeare productions to “Regents Prep” with our Teen Employment interns.
Never worked with urban kids before? Never fear—we always tell prospective volunteers that “heart” is 90% of being effective with young people. If you feel called to love and invest in children and teenagers—many coming from distressed home situations—there may well be a place for you at Peace of the City.
The first step of exploration is to contact Mark Cerbone at 716-883-2799 or mctheluddite@gmail.com. Mark will be glad to speak with you and to host a tour of our programs to aid in your discernment process. Our goal is to help potential volunteers identify a good “fit” within one of our programs, a place where they can give and receive in a meaningful—and sometimes lifechanging—way.
