Ephraim Initiative

 

 

The Ephraim Initiative is an opportunity for children reading below grade level to receive 1:1 and small-group literacy intervention services. Through SBRR methods, the program targets the "five pillars" of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, in addition to writing. SRA's Corrective Reading, a Writing Workshop based on the 6-Traits, and Literature Circles are all incorporated into instruction each week for a balanced program of direct, explicit, systematic phonics instruction and authentic reading and writing experiences. There is regular progress-monitoring so the program can be tailored to the individual needs of each student.
